On the way to the Mozilla Festival in London I finally had time to read Charles Tsai‘s report from the Technology for Engagement Summit in June 2012. Sponsored by the Knight Foundation, working in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab and the Berkman Center for Internet and Society, the summit convened 70 thinkers on technology and community to map, network, and advance the Technology for Engagement field.

When I saw this part I jumped up and did a happydance!
Practitioners need physical spaces to meet, build relationships, and generate ideas. These don’t have to be new spaces. Libraries can become the new hubs for engagement and innovation. They can house knowledge as well as the tools to address community needs. Librarians can curate information to help people solve problems and make their communities better.
